Full Prof. of History of Economic Development and Development Economics in the «Magna Graecia» University (Catanzaro), P.M. has been President from 2000 until 2015 of the European School for Training in Economic and Social Historical Research of the Posthumus Institute (now in Nijmegen).
P.M. received his education in Humanities in Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa) and University of Pisa. He has been Associate Professor of History of Industry and Early Modern Economic History in the University of Pisa from 1977 until 1994 and Full Professor of Economic History (with courses in Economics -Micro- and Macro-economics-) in the University «Magna Graecia» in Catanzaro, from 1994 until 2002. He has been Director of the degree course in Public Ma-nagement Sciences in the University «Magna Graecia» in Catanzaro from 1998 until 2002 and coordinator of the Socrates program for the same University. Winner of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) competiton for the direction of the Institute of Studies on Mediterranean Societies (ISSM), in June 2002, P.M. has been Director of the ISSM-CNR from September 2002 until November 30th 2013. He has been in 2015, 2016 and 2017 member of the GEV (Area 13, Economics and Statistical Sciences) for the last assessment of the scientific production of the Italian Universities (VQR 2010-14).
